Hospitality 

 

Certficate I in Hospitality(Kitchen Operations) - Kitchen Attending

This course is designed to develop the appropriate skills and knowledge to gain employment as a kitchen attendant within the hospitality industry.  These include food hygiene, food preparation, basic cooking methods, and the communication skills necessary to work as part of a team.

Those seeking an apprenticeship or traineeship in cooking will find this to be appropriate pre-employment training.

 

Certificate II in Hospitality (Operations) - Food & Beverage Service

This course is designed to develop the appropriate skills and knowledge to gain employment within the food and beverage sector of the hospitality industry.

Participants gain food handling and responsible service for alcohol qualifications as well as the communication skills necessary to work as part of a team.

 

Certificate III in Hospitality - Commercial Cookery

This course is designed to develop the appropriate skills and knowledge required of cooks in the hospitality industry.

Training is delivered at the Glen Waverley site by qualified staff who have recent industry experience. 

All materials, uniform and equipment costs are included in the initial fees.

While most work is practical there are some requirements for written and verbal presentations.  Students can expect to be involved in the preparation and service of functions as well as the operation of CafĂ© Quantrelle which is on site

Work placements in the hospitality industry will be organized for a duration of approximately eight weeks throughout the course.

This certificate is the minimum qualification for cooks.  The hospitality industry covers a large range of employment areas including hotels, motels, clubs, restaurants, work canteens, hospitals & nursing homes.

 

Workplace Training

 

Certificate IV in Assessment & Workplace Training

The workplace trainer course applies to those people for whom training is a large part of their job, or their job function is within a training organization.  It is the minimum qualification required to teach accredited courses and is desirable for those working in the ACE sector.

 

Aged Care Work

 

Certificate III in Aged Care Work

This course is a part time course aimed at workers in aged care facilities who do not possess a recognized qualification.  It may be suitable for people who are not currently working in the aged care field but do have experience in either a paid or voluntary capacity.  The course is designed to build on existing skills and knowledge to gain a nationally recognized certificate.

Aged carers work in supported accommodation settings such as nursing homes, hostels, and day centers as well as in private homes.  Many employers require a Police Check to work int his field.

 

Community TrainingC

 

Course in Community Information Work

This course is to provide formal training for people who are working, or wish to work, in the field of community information provision.  This includes workers in community information agencies, in both paid and voluntary positions, a swell as people who provide information to the community in their capacity as workers in a variety of human service fields.

Introduction to Computers

This course assumes no prior experience with a PC.  It is suitable for those who are a bit nervous about using a computer for the first time.

 

Intro Plus Word

A combination of introduction to computers and Word Level 1, this course assumes no prior experience with computers.

 

All About Word

This course using Microsoft Word ia a combination of Introduction to computers, Word level 1 and Word level  2.  No prior experience necessary.

 

Excel Level 1

This course using Microsoft Excel is designed to introduce you to the basic operation and functions.  The lessons include practice exercises as well as examples for creating your own spreadsheets.  Word Level 1 would be a desirable prerequisite.

 

Access Level 1

This Couse using Microsoft Access is designed to introduce you to the basic operation and functions of Access.  The lessons include practice exercises as well as examples for creating your own databases.  All about Word would be a desirable prerequistie.

 

Office Computer Skills

A longer course for those who want to develop a broad range of skills to enable them to use computers confidently at work or at home.  It is suitable for those who feel out of touch with current work practices.  The emphasis will be on completing specific tasks using appropriate software.  Topics include Windows Explorer, Word, Excel, Powerpoint.

 

Beginners Internet

A combination of introduction to computers and internet, this course assumes no prior experience with computers,  Includes email and internet.

 

Digital technology

This course using Microsoft Office is designed to introduce you to the basic operation and functions of Internet, Scanners and Digital Cameras.  The lessons include practice exercises as well as examples for creating, modifying and sending your photos and information to friends and relatives.  No prior experience necessary.

 

Internet

A basic computer skill are required but assumes no prior experience with the internet.  Includes email and internet.
